Family Dentistry
Your teeth are made of tough stuff. Even so, the consumption of acidic as well as sugary foods and beverages can easily bore through tooth enamel over time. The erosion of tooth enamel can lead to tooth sensitivity, decay, and loss – and even bone loss.
Preventive dental care, like regular dental exams and cleanings, can ensure any dental issues, like tooth enamel erosion, are identified as soon as possible. Of course, if you experience any tooth pain or other symptoms between your usual dental visits, make an appointment to see your family dentist at Town Square Dental for emergency dental care.
At Town Square Dental, we welcome patients from 7 to 107, and everyone in between. As a small, privately owned practice, we offer excellent dental care while catering to the unique needs of each and every patient of ours. This is how we’re able to build lasting relationships with so many of our patients.
Common Dental Procedures
Dr. Cindy Crews and the dental team at Town Square Dental, can fulfill practically any dental need you may have. Our services include:
Filling cavities is one of the most common things done at most dental offices. It involves removing the tooth decay, then filling the area with safe and effective material made just for this purpose. Fillings help to restore the shape, durability, and function of your teeth. At Town Square Dental, we offer composite and amalgam fillings, based on our patients’ needs.
Sometimes, severe decay, infection, or crowding may require that one or more of your teeth be pulled. In the vast majority of cases, a tooth extraction can be done right here in the Town Square Dental office with local anesthetic.
Wisdom teeth – the molars at the back of your mouth – typically appear by the time you are 20 or 21 and are the last adult teeth to appear. Wisdom teeth may need to be extracted if there isn’t enough space in the jaw, if a patient is considering orthodontics, or if the wisdom teeth erupt in the wrong position, leading to pain, infection, or damage to neighboring teeth.
There are many reasons why you may need a root canal, including infection, a very deep cavity, or cracked teeth. The procedure involves removing the soft center of your tooth, called the pulp, then disinfecting the area and sealing it to prevent future decay. Tooth pain and sensitivity to heat and cold are the most common symptoms that may indicate the need for a root canal. Root canals remove the source of your symptoms, while preserving your original tooth.
Dental crowns and bridges protect weak and damaged teeth, or the space where a missing tooth once was, while preserving the look of your smile. Both are permanently affixed with dental cement and restore the function and appearance of your teeth.
Crowns are basically teeth-shaped covers placed over a tooth that is cracked, worn, or significantly decayed.
Bridges are used to replace missing teeth, effectively “bridging” the gap in your smile. Bridges are held in place by being attached to crowns on the teeth adjacent to the missing tooth. Bridges can also be supported by adjacent implants.
Dental implants are used to replace missing teeth and are anchored directly into your jawbone. Implants last significantly longer than bridges, which are anchored by crowns on adjacent teeth.
Dr. Cindy Crews at Town Square Dental has successfully providing dental implants for many of her patients. She uses cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) to plan and guide the surgery, including bone grafting, if necessary.
Implants may also be chosen as an alternative to dentures.
Dentures are removable dental appliances that replace missing teeth. Dentures may be partial (to replace one or more teeth) or full (replacing all teeth in the upper and lower jaw).
In addition to the above common restorative dental procedures, Dr. Crews and the team at Town Square Dental also offer cosmetic dentistry, such as Invisalign and veneers, as well as periodontal care and orthodontics.
Dentistry is constantly evolving – and there are often new and better ways to handle even the most routine dental care needs. At Town Square Dental, Dr. Crews and her staff stay abreast of the latest technology, surgical methods, and dental treatments, so that we can offer our patients the very best care.
